Windows 7 Price A Move in the Right Direction

June 25, 2009

Windows 7 or Windows ?

Throughout the next few months there will inevitably be a massive push for Microsoft’s latest endeavor, Windows 7.  Straight off of the debacle of Windows Vista, the company is offering a special on Friday June 26th where users can buy upgrades for only $49.  To give you some perspective, Windows states that the MSRP on the most basic Home Edition of Windows Vista is a whopping $199, and it’s been out for over 2+ years!  At least we can hope that Microsoft got word of Vista’s incredibly high price and bothersome User Account Control warnings.  The seemingly one-time-only deal comes as the entire world is watching to see if Microsoft can make the right changes to revive the faith.  This is a step in the right direction as far as I am concerned, especially with everything surrounding The Pirate Bay and co.  Just as much software as music and movies is circulated.  Perhaps Windows 7’s attractive price will bring in more sales despite P2P networks, a recession, and Microsoft’s not-so-hot Windows Vista.  While the jury is still out, have you heard about this Ubuntu thing?
