The Australian government, the first luddite Parliament of the 21st Century, has banned Second Life in the country. More after the ol’ jump.

OH MY GOD UNSAVORY THINGS!!! NOOOOOO

OH MY GOD UNSAVORY THINGS!!! NOOOOOO

For some reason, it feels that because its Censorship Ministry (Minitrue?) can’t accurately rate the online experience, it must be banned. There are vulnerable, impressionable children out there, after all, who must take precedent over the vulnerable, lonely singletons who rely on the game for the only joy in their life. Any flash-based game or MMORPG that can be classified as ‘adult’ will be banned under new legislation in the former British prisoner colony. Next on the chopping block for the Wallabies? How about Wikipedia? Or rugby? Someone might skin their knee, or read about how animals do it.
