I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

resistance is futile

According to this computer array, Skynet should’ve gone online and become self-aware back in May. This means we’re all living on borrowed time, and apparently the harbinger of doom has just reared his ugly head. Henry Markram, director of the Blue Brain Project, suggested the other day that an artificial human brain is only about 10 years away. While the purpose of this project is supposed to be medical, like the brain version of a Jarvik heart, it doesn’t take a neuroscientist to make the jump to artificial intelligence, and that kind of terrifies me. If the post-apocalyptic movies I was brought up on have taught me anything, it’s that the human race’s downfall always starts with the successful implementation of A.I. Actually, in theory, if you combine the content of this post with my last one, Google could well be on their way to becoming a real-life Skynet. You won’t be able to hide; the Androids will be able to pull up Google Street View on their G1s and the only 80-20 rule they’ll have is what percentage of us they’ll keep around for slaves. THE END IS NIGH, PEOPLE!!!!
